Hello there! My name is Shelly Umlah which you have probably figured out by my website address! I’m a writer who has used my creative skills to write in a variety of mediums over the years.
I have written local stories for a newspaper, written financial reports, blogs, short stories both fiction and non-fiction. I have supported myself for the last 15 years in finance, my last position as a Director of Finance.
I am in the process of writing a self-help book that is part memoire to explain how I managed to go from a very poor child to a Director of Finance. You will see the intro to the book on this site.
I was an instructor for the Northern Lights College in the Applied Business Technology program which helped me to hone my communication skills. I taught English and Communications for five years in this position.
I have worked with students and co-workers from many different walks of life and I have bridged the gap among many cultures. While at the Northern Lights College, I created a handbook entitled, “How to Indigenize the Applied Business Technology Program,” which is currently being used at another college in British Columbia.
I hope you enjoy my blogs and that they intrigue you enough to ask for more!
